Possessed Tormentor zine
Ok., this is what we call 100% pure funeral doom metal. I think there's only 4 or 5 bands in the world which can do this
style with class and Wijlen Wij is one of these five. The only thing i expect from a funeral doom band is the feeling
of apocalypse and the overwhelming gloomy atmopshere i can flow into. This band do it in 100%, being a good illustration
of what autumn (mentally) and depression are all about. It fits my mood pretty well these days so Wijlen Wij is a good
illustration of an atmospheric, intelligent band. It seems a good idea to compare them to Evoken and Skepticism in terms
of atmosphere but the sound of Wijlen Wij have on this cd is much rawer than these two awesome funeral bands. Hey, what
you buy for your money is over 74 full minutes of the style i fucking like but which is too personal to describe fully.
The only weak point here is the cover art that i would like to be something more fitting the music you know something
to strenghten the expression of the music itself. 'Bridges' is undoubtely the best song on it and it's totally filled with
negative emotions, sorrow, senselessness and so on. Anyways, it's a very strong album on Aesthetic Records and if you are
into doom you'll like it immediately. Did i mention the word 'funeral doom' already?
